Anxiety Therapy at The LiveWell Collective

Anxiety is a natural human response, but when it becomes persistent, overwhelming, interferes with daily life or overall quality of life, it may indicate an anxiety disorder. At The LiveWell Collective, we provide evidence-based therapy for children, teens, and young adults experiencing a wide range of anxiety-related concerns.

We specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure-Based Interventions, which are highly effective in treating anxiety disorders. Our work is guided by research, compassion, and a commitment to helping you or your child feel confident and capable again.

What are Anxiety Disorders?

CBT + Exposure-Based Treatment

We use evidence-based treatment approaches to help individuals break free from anxiety’s grip. One of the most effective methods we use is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), often combined with Exposure-Based interventions. These strategies involve gradually and intentionally facing anxiety-provoking situations (exposures) while learning to respond in new, more flexible ways, without avoidance or safety behaviors.

This helps retrain the brain’s fear response, reduce sensitivity to triggers, and build lasting confidence in managing anxiety.

Key elements of our anxiety treatment approach include:

  • Collaborative treatment planning personalized to each client’s goals and symptoms

  • Structured exposure exercises both in and outside of session to challenge avoidant patterns

  • Skills for tolerating discomfort, managing physical symptoms of anxiety, and reducing safety behaviors

  • Parent and family involvement when appropriate, especially for child and teen clients

  • Weekly sessions with between-session practice to support progress and independence

Anxiety disorders are the most common mental health conditions in the United States, affecting nearly 1 in 5 adults and 1 in 3 adolescents each year. While symptoms vary, they often include symptoms such as excessive fear, avoidance, restlessness, difficulty concentrating, physical tension, sleep disruption and/or interference with daily living.

Anxiety disorders are highly treatable. With the right support, individuals can learn to manage worry, face fears, and regain a sense of control over their lives.

Anxiety Disorders

Our team is trained in identifying and treating various anxiety disorders using evidence-based approaches like CBT and ERP. Below are some of the specific types of anxiety we support:

  • GAD involves persistent, excessive worry about a variety of everyday things—school, work, health, family, safety. Individuals with GAD often describe a sense of constant “what if” thinking that feels impossible to shut off.

    Treatment can include:

Identifying thought patterns that fuel anxiety

    Building tolerance for uncertainty

Learning skills to manage cognitive and physical symptoms of worry

  • Social anxiety goes beyond shyness. It involves intense fear of judgment, embarrassment, or rejection in social or performance situations. Left untreated, it can limit relationships, school or work participation, and self-esteem.

    We help clients:

Understand and reframe distorted social fears

Practice feared interactions in and out of session

Build confidence through exposure and skills training

  • While often associated with children, separation anxiety can affect individuals across the lifespan. It includes distress around being away from loved ones, often accompanied by fears of harm or loss.

    In therapy, we focus on:

    Gradual exposure to independence

    Emotion regulation skills

Supporting parents or caregivers to reduce accommodation

  • Panic disorder is characterized by sudden and recurring panic attacks—intense episodes of fear with physical symptoms like chest pain, dizziness, rapid heartbeat, or shortness of breath. Fear of having another attack often leads to avoidance of activities or places.

    Our treatment includes:

Interoceptive exposure (safely confronting physical sensations)

Cognitive restructuring to reduce fear of symptoms

    Mind-body strategies for long-term resilience

  • Phobias are intense, irrational fears of specific objects or situations—like heights, needles, flying, or animals. Avoidance can be debilitating, even when the person knows the fear is disproportionate.

We use exposure-based therapy to help clients face phobias in a structured, safe, and supportive way until the fear decreases.

  • Emetophobia is a highly distressing and often misunderstood fear of vomiting—either oneself or others. It can interfere with eating, travel, social events, and health decisions.

    Treatment may include:

Gradual, tailored exposure to feared sensations or triggers

Restructuring safety behaviors that reinforce the fear

Collaboration with medical professionals when appropriate

  • Misophonia is a strong emotional reaction (such as rage or panic) to specific sounds—often chewing, tapping, or breathing. Though not officially classified as an anxiety disorder, it often co-occurs and shares features of heightened sensory sensitivity and avoidance.

We offer behavioral and acceptance-based strategies to help individuals reduce reactivity and regain peace in everyday environments.
