Therapeutic Specializations

Beatriz Alvarez, RMHCI

Clinical Group Therapy Facilitator | Teen & Young Adult Therapist | Registered Mental Health Counseling Intern

Beatriz Alvarez is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern (RMHCI) with specialized experience supporting children, adolescents, and adults navigating complex mental health challenges, including Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), anxiety disorders, depression, low self-esteem, trauma, and co-occurring substance use concerns.

As an RMHCI, Beatriz is a provisionally licensed clinician actively pursuing full licensure under close supervision, which means clients benefit from not only her dedicated care but also layered clinical oversight and collaboration with experienced licensed professionals. This dual support ensures that her work remains current, comprehensive, and aligned with best practices in the field.

Beatriz’s therapeutic style is warm, relational, and rooted in evidence-based treatment approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, and trauma-informed care. She is committed to creating a nonjudgmental and collaborative space where clients feel seen, understood, and empowered to make meaningful change.

She also strongly emphasizes family involvement, particularly when working with children and teens. Beatriz partners with parents and caregivers to strengthen family systems and provide education on how to reinforce therapeutic gains and create supportive environments at home.

In addition to her work with OCD and anxiety, Beatriz has worked extensively with individuals experiencing co-occurring mood and substance use disorders. She is particularly passionate about supporting clients who are navigating the intersection of anxiety, depression, and addiction, helping them break the cycle of avoidance and dysregulation through structured, evidence-based interventions.

Her goal is to help every client gain clarity, learn practical tools, and build a values-aligned life that feels purposeful, balanced, and resilient.

Education & Training

Beatriz earned her Bachelor's degree from the University of South Florida (USF) and her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from National Louis University. She completed advanced clinical training at Rogers Behavioral Health in Tampa—one of the nation’s premier providers for OCD and anxiety treatment where she worked with high-acuity clients in Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) levels of care. At Rogers, Beatriz developed a deep foundation in exposure-based therapies and gained extensive experience treating complex and treatment-resistant cases.

A Bit About Beatriz

Outside of her work as a therapist, Beatriz is a proud dog mom to Chuleta, her lovable Frenchie-Shih Tzu mix (whose name fittingly means “pork chop”). She’s a passionate supporter of the Dallas Mavericks and a lifelong basketball fan. Beatriz also enjoys staying active and sees her workouts as a favorite way to recharge and practice mindfulness.
