OCD Therapy for Young Adults and Adults

OCD does not always show up in childhood, and it does not always go away with time. Many young adults and adults find that new responsibilities, like college, a first job or living independently, bring symptoms to the surface or make them harder to manage.

We offer specialized OCD treatment for adults who are ready to stop organizing their lives around fear and doubt.

What it can look like in adulthood

  • Checking that makes you late or keeps you up at night
  • Rewriting emails or assignments until they feel exactly right
  • Mentally reviewing conversations or past events for hours
  • Avoiding roommates, coworkers or places because of intrusive fears
  • Relying on partners, family or online searches for reassurance

Starting treatment as an adult

Reaching out as an adult can feel like a big step, especially if you have managed on your own for a long time. Many adults tell us they were not sure their symptoms were serious enough to count. If OCD is costing you time, sleep, focus or connection, that is reason enough.

We begin with a complimentary 15-minute consultation, followed by a 60-minute initial intake where we learn about your history, your goals and how OCD shows up in your daily life. From there, we build a treatment plan together and review it as you make progress. You stay in charge of the pace, and we are honest with you about what the work involves.

Why so many adults wait for help

About 1 in 100 adults have OCD. According to the International OCD Foundation, adults report waiting 14 to 17 years before getting effective help. Some were told their worries were just stress. Others tried talk therapy that did not target OCD directly, or kept their symptoms private out of shame.

If that sounds familiar, you are not behind and you are not alone. It is never too late to learn an approach built specifically for OCD.

How we help

We use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the gold standard treatment for OCD, alongside CBT and acceptance-based skills. We start by mapping your obsessions, compulsions and avoidance, then build a plan together.

Weekly sessions usually include planning an exposure, practicing it together, and reflecting on what you learned. Between sessions, you practice in daily life, at work, at school or at home, and gradually reduce checking, reassurance seeking and mental rituals. The goal is not to feel certain. It is to live the life you want while uncertainty is present.

Sessions are held by secure telehealth for clients physically located in Florida, from the Panhandle to the Keys. Get in touch to schedule a complimentary 15-minute consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. ERP is effective for adults at any stage, including people who have lived with OCD for a long time or tried other therapy before.

Ongoing sessions are 50 minutes and range from $150 to $200 depending on the clinician. Longer exposure work can be scheduled as a 30-minute exposure block for $96.

We are self-pay and provide superbills you can submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement. You will receive a Good Faith Estimate before services begin.
